Did You Know Brant Florist Has Orchids?

The Orchid or known as the Orchidaceae are part of diverse and widespread family of flowering plants. And there are part of the 2 largest families of flowering plants which include the Asteracaea. Orchids are also very easy to recognize since they have that very signature look. Plus they come in so many great colours. Today we’ll go through some of those colours and how to take care of this uniquely beautiful flower. And here at Brant Florist, we have a wide selection of Orchids to choose from

How To Care For Your Orchid

Making sure you know how to care for your flower is so important and will ensure that it’ll have a longer life. Orchids can be tricky if you don’t know what to do, you might over water them and that isn’t good for this plant.

The first step is to identify the type of Orchid that you have. Since there are so many, knowing this information can make caring for it a bit easier. And by knowing the type you have you can then determine when your plant will bloom.

Where do you place it? Knowing where to place you plant is important to its care. These plants don’t like to be placed in cold areas, where there are cold drafts, or where they can be exposed to direct sunlight or heating vents. They much prefer dry air, direct heat and cold chills aren’t good for these more exotic plants.

Your plants bloom will last longer if you provide it with a mild, warm and somewhat humid environment. Orchids need very little water, its recommended that when you think you plant might need water, wait 3 days or a week and then water it. Over watering is dangerous for any plant and especially this one.

How To Care For You Orchid After It Blooms

After care is just as important as caring for the plant just as the right care is important when it’s in bloom. This is how you can ensure a longer life. Orchids need long-term maintenance. After the bloom you will need to snip off the old flower spike near the base. And depending on the season, you might also want to choose to un-pot your Orchid into a more friendly container.
